Christopher J. Holland, D.D.S.
San Antonio dentist Dr. Christopher Holland earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1990 from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio…widely considered the number one dentistry school in the nation. Next, he completed an 18 month General Practice Residency with the United States Air Force, after which he opened his private practice. He's been busy putting into practice the art and science of comfortable, comprehensive dentistry ever since.
Dr. Holland's continuing education emphasis has included additional training in cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, Invisalign, and sedation dentistry. This advanced study gives him a solid, practical understanding of the wide variety of interrelated issues involved in maintaining overall dental health. He's honored to have his hard work recognized by San Antonio magazine, which selected him as one of San Antonio's Top Dentists.
The Staff
Of course you expect a dental staff to be qualified, responsible, and able to work as a team. And while those traits are essential in our own staff, we're also known for some less common qualities. We know how to care for real people, with real courtesy and concern. This means that we invest our time each year in continuing education, keeping up to date with the latest so that we can be a true resource for you. And it also means that we invest plenty of time in you, listening, empathizing with your situation, and helping you learn how to attain your own 'personal best' level of dental health.
Helena Harris – Office Manager, Insurance Coordinator
Helena has an Associates Degree in Dental Assisting, and has been with us at Dr. Holland’s office since 1981. In that time, she has worked with several terrific doctors and says she cannot imagine ever leaving all the wonderful patients she has had the privilege to serve during her time here. Experienced with the inner workings of the practice, from the treatment rooms to the front office, Helena has a solid grasp of how to make our patients’ visits smooth and worry-free.
Favorite part about her work: “Watching the practice grow and helping it along has been a huge part of my growth as an individual as well. This doesn’t even seem like a job!”
Helena and her husband have three daughters. The couple has been married for 28 years and neither one knows where the time went!
Faith De La Garza, Registered Dental Hygienist
As a hygienist, Faith works directly with our patients to ensure continued oral health. Thorough cleanings, periodontal therapy, and down-to-earth patient education about practicing good oral hygiene are all parts of her vital work here at Dr. Holland’s practice. Faith is a native of Corpus Christi and joined our team in 2004.
Favorite part about her work: “I love helping people--educating them about better health and working with dental phobics to overcome their fears.”
An active participant in her profession, Faith is a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA), the Texas Dental Hygiene Association (TDHA), and the San Antonio District Dental Society (SADDS).
Vicki Burg, Registered Dental Hygienist
Vicki is originally from Lavernia, TX, but we’re glad she came our way in 2008! With over 20 years of experience as a dental hygienist, she brought a wealth of experience to our patients and our team. Vicki appreciates how our doctor, staff members, and patients all work together to achieve great results.
Favorite part of her job: “Aside from the fantastic doctor, coworkers, and patients, I just LOVE helping people.”
Vicki spends her spare time reading, creating arts and crafts, and spending time with her husband, their two daughters, and a sweet grandson.
Liz Luera – Registered Dental Assistant
As an assistant to Dr. Holland, Liz is responsible for preparing treatment areas for procedures, talking with patients about what to expect, taking X-rays, and making sure the patient stays comfortable throughout treatment. Since her start with us in 2004, Liz has worn many proverbial hats for the practice, considering her radiology certification, certification to monitor patients who receive nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation, and her Invisalign certification.
Favorite part of her job: “I love my job as an assistant because of all the great people I’m able to meet and work with. I’m a team player, and always try to give the work my all.”
Liz enjoys time with her family, which includes husband Angel, an Air Force sergeant, and their three children, Angel, Giselle, and Giovanni. She also keeps buys running, doing arts and crafts, and cycling.
Melissa Otero – Registered Dental Assistant
Mellissa’s job is assisting Dr. Holland with all the dental procedures he performs, and making sure the patients are comfortable while they’re in the dental chair. She has been a member of our team is 1999, and is certified to take X-rays and monitor nitrous oxide treatment. Our staff members and patients alike enjoy Melissa’s positive attitude and knack for providing a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere for everyone.
Favorite part about her work: “I love building relationships with longtime patients, and I enjoy the great people I work with.”
When she’s not at the office, Melissa spends time with her husband and two children. They love visiting the beach as a family.
