Dr. Selsa A. Gonzalez

Dr. Selsa Gonzalez was raised in Ottawa, Canada, and she has been practicing dentistry for 10 years so far. She loves showing patients just how comfortable dentistry can be. Nothing makes her happier than helping an anxious patient finally be able to relax in the chair and not stress about their dental care. To learn a little more about her background, keep reading on below!
Why Did You Want to Become a Dentist?
When Dr. Gonzalez was a child, she had a pronounced overbite, which had to be corrected with braces and what she calls “full-on headgear.” She believes that this began her fascination with teeth, and she liked going to the dentist because it was always a pleasant and educational experience. She wanted to be able to help people just like her own dentist, which brought her to where she is today.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Gonzalez graduated with honors from the McGill University Faculty of Dentistry in Montreal, the top medical/doctoral university in Canada. She continued her studies at Boston University, completing a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. This honed her expertise on esthetic porcelain crowns and veneers, root canal treatment, pediatrics, esthetic bonding, and sedation dentistry. Over the past five years, her training has focused on providing sedation and using 3D technology to design and place implants as well as veneers and Lumineers. She currently maintains active memberships in the American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association. Dr. Gonzalez is a member of the Spear Education Group, where she enjoys taking a wide range of continuing education courses and further broadening her clinical skills. This helps keep her up to date with the newest advances in dentistry. She also loves teaching and making an impact on future dentists!
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Gonzalez loves living in downtown San Antonio with her husband, Omar, and their two young children. She served as past-president of the Lavaca Neighborhood Association and is committed to making San Antonio’s urban core family-friendly. Dr. Gonzalez is also a proud graduate of Leadership San Antonio, a program aimed at developing San Antonio’s future leaders. Dr. Gonzalez’s other passions are traveling, yoga, hiking, and finding the best new restaurants in San Antonio. In addition to English, she speaks Arabic as well as French, and she’s gotten pretty good at Spanish since moving to Texas.
